The 6th Fotofestival Mannheim-Ludwigshafen-Heidelberg has been opened

...and we are delighted over the all-round successful start!

More than 3,800 Festival visitors attended the opening event across three days, in three cities and [7] participating art locations and museums. We would like to warmly thank the visitors for coming!

Around 600 visitors took part in the celebratory opening at the Wilhelm-Hack-Museum, Ludwigshafen. 27 of the exhibiting artists from 13 countries were in attendance. They originate from Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Israel, Italy, Japan, Canada, the Netherlands, Austria, Palestine, Portugal, Switzerland and the USA.

The focus events in Heidelberg and Mannheim offered the opportunity for in-depth confrontation with the artistic positions which curator Urs Stahel thematically combines under the title [7P].

Particular highlights were the Artist Lectures with the internationally renowned artists Julika Rudelius, Thomas Hirschhorn, Rico Scagliola & Michael Meier, George Legrady, Jules Spinatsch, Ilit Azoulay as well as Paolo Woods & Gabriele Galimberti. In the course of the lectures they conveyed exciting insights into their artistic work. Their respective artistic approaches to the precarious fields that are dealt with were hotly debated in the round.

Our Portfolio Review format offered photographers the opportunity for dialogue with the Fotofestival's participating artists and renowned experts on the photography scene. Three favourites were selected by the expert jury. Their works will be put on show in a dedicated exhibition at the Heidelberger FORUM für KUNST.

We are thrilled by the extraordinarily great interest and successful launch of [7P] - [7] Places [7] Precarious Fields and would like to point out further special features in our supporting programme:
